Its all the holiday cheer and the mistletoe on every bough. The carols are only on the speakers in stores at the point, but it is only a matter of day before they are out in the streets.
There is something about this season that brings out the warmth and affection in people than even the colors of spring. I guess you are searching for that companionship to drive the cold away .. that rings true at SO many different levels.
