A matched pair in many ways

A long hiatus needs to be ended ... and I shall take the easy route on this choice:

Happy Father's Day Dad:

They come in tiny and so small
needing your sheltering arms
learning to stand and to crawl
protected from all harms

Shoulders to carry around all day
ever a growing load
teaching things along the way
all the world has to behold

Those same arms to push around
in narrow passage ways
as did we fight and pound
every memory etched stays

All those cool little tricks
small things around the house
torchlights, toys and toothpicks
and how to catch a mouse

What I learnt from looking over
your shoulder, to this day
broken tv or leaking shower
I only do it your way!!

I know its not easy to learn
or for you to see me as grown
for to do it myself I did yearn
as you moulded me into your own

Happy Mother's Day Mom:

They say all sons are momma's boys
and that I've never understood:
Its the daddys that buy them toys
& both make sure they turn out good!

But a mother's love is to hold them close
and always give a patient hear
even amidst all the daily chores
taking time to wipe away the tear

A hand to hold to cross the street
and go swinging through the marketplace
not a care but the carry of happy feet
childhoods glory with me stays

And when time is scarce and I am pressed
and tense decisions and deadlines await
who do I call when I feel most stressed
to get up and out of that dire strait?

Not a scrape is too small to ignore
and the worry shows in your face
not a single school tale ever a bore
well I think Ive beaten my own case

Forget about just you or me,
How could we all not be our mom's kids
For thats the smiling face we see
each time we close our eyelids :)
